I was a Light employee for the last three years of the company's life, so video saddens me (not that it's unfair). All I will say is that it was one of the most enjoyable jobs of my 40 years in software, Dave and Rajiv were great bosses, and almost everyone I worked with was extremely talented and dedicated to making the best product possible. Unfortunately, success requires more than good intentions.

They just tried to be apple too much but without ecosystem or integrations. At the bare minimum this rev 1.0 version of the product would've been a bluetooth gadget that connects to an android or iOS device, from there use internet and digital assistant services, even AI running on the phone hardware. This could've been like a sort-of apple watch thing, but charging 800 USD, and a subscription, and the thing doesn't have a full day battery, it doesn't work even doing basic stuff like taking a picture, is just beyond laugh to consumers, let alone investors. To me, this is a scam, is not needed as is, it could've been so much different and simpler. Is not even a solution looking for a problem.

I bought a 1st gen Zune shortly after the release of the second gens, I then returned it a couple days later because the UI was aggravating. My take away was if you had an ipod prior to the Zune, you didn't like the feel of the UI. Thus the Zune kinda sucked in comparison.

Funny to hear that chromebooks somehow hurt netbooks. Netbooks were the thing every lamer or village dweller wanted as a cheap or small notebook. How you suppose to work or study without Windows? Chromebook is definitely a hipster scam, never knew anyone had it. Tablets did the crime.

The first time I saw this product, my immediate thoughts were - it was an unnecessary and cumbersome new interface. Most of the functionality they were advertising could be achieved with the phone and a smartwatch, enabled by future software releases. The glasses would probably be a much more desirable addition.

Last August, my phone fell out of my zipper pocket (I messed up and I guess I forgot to zip the pocket) while riding copperhead strike at carrowinds around 1pm. That was a feeling that SUCKED... But it didn't even cross my mind for a second to jump the fence to get it... I waited until close and the crew found it. Surprisingly only the case was slightly damaged.

I had a 2009 17" MacBook and the optical drive behaves that way too when i had to re-install snow leopard i had to use the flashed iso file because i didn't even have the dvd to do it but sometimes it won't recognise cds and other times it will and then it will recognise the cds it rejected once it was able to read/play/rip one cd, it could be a bad optical drive but that macbook is now unusable due to the failed capacitor.

It's clearly a scam in two ways: 1. They are looking for a crazy valuation (more importantly an EXIT) for an unproven company with an unproven business model (defrauding investors/future investors) without solving the obvious company side problems (How do they ever become profitable? How much more money will they need to raise to even fix their current problems?) 2. Defrauding consumers with a ridiculous price / performance product advertised as a finished product (not as a beta / early adopters kit still available on their store today btw without any warnings) again without solving the product problems (that their own employees mentioned early on). How much of the careless valuations are going to propagate down to consumers? Just because the injured parties here aren't (massively) injured doesn't justify the actions of the owners.

It is nice to hear a story of somebody trying to do something without scamming you.

If they cared about battery life, they would have made it an accessory to your phone which runs entirely on Bluetooth and does not have a cellular connection. But that would have defeated the entire purpose behind the device, which is to make people less attached to their devices. The entire concept behind this product is idiotic. I can see that and I didn't need to burn through a gazillion dollars of venture capital to do so. If you are concerned about screen time, Apple already makes a product for that - it's called the Apple Watch with cellular, and it has excellent battery life.
